Training on Integrated Water Resources Management
Sustainable management of water resources and access to safe water and sanitation are essential for unlocking economic growth and productivity, and provide significant leverage for existing investments in health and education. However, water is only one of a number of vital natural resources and it is imperative that water issues are not considered in isolation. Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach that has now been accepted internationally as the way forward for efficient, equitable and sustainable development and management of the worldās limited water resources and for coping with conflicting demands.
Integrated Water Resources Management is a cross-sectoral policy approach, designed to replace the traditional, fragmented sectoral approach to water resources and management, which led to poor services and unsustainable resource use. IWRM is based on the understanding that water resources are an integral component of the ecosystem, a natural resource, a social and economic good.
This course aims to offer a broad-based coverage of the principles and practices of integrated water resources management (IWRM)
