About the Course
Human rights violations, conflicts, and violence continue to challenge societies worldwide, threatening peace, stability, and development. Understanding the legal frameworks that protect human rights and employing effective conflict resolution and peacebuilding strategies are crucial for building sustainable peace.
In many parts of the world, unresolved conflicts lead to human suffering, displacement, and systemic abuses of rights. Human rights law serves as a fundamental tool in addressing grievances, holding perpetrators accountable, and fostering an environment of justice and equality. However, legal frameworks alone are not enoughāeffective conflict resolution and peacebuilding strategies are essential for addressing the root causes of disputes and ensuring sustainable peace.
This training aims to bridge the gap between human rights law, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding, providing participants with a holistic understanding of how legal instruments, negotiation skills, and peacebuilding frameworks work together in different contexts. The course will explore both international and regional human rights systems, discuss the role of courts, truth commissions, and mediation efforts, and provide hands-on training in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), conflict analysis, and advocacy.
