About the Course
Data-governance programmes often fail because responsibilities exist only in policies or committee terms of reference. Data owners, stewards, custodians and business users may not understand their decision authority, expected activities or accountability for data problems. Effective stewardship converts governance expectations into sustained management of data definitions, quality rules, issues and controls within business domains.
This course develops the competence required to establish and operate an organizational data-stewardship function. It covers stewardship mandates, operating models, data domains, ownership, critical data elements, business metadata, data-quality rules, issue resolution, escalation forums and stewardship performance. The course concentrates on role execution rather than repeating the broader governance framework covered in Data Governance Fundamentals.
Participants will define stewardship responsibilities and practise the recurring activities performed by data stewards. They will develop a stewardship charter, domain map, role profiles, critical-data register, business glossary template, data-quality rule register, issue-resolution workflow and stewardship scorecard.
