About the Course
Effective public relations decisions depend on evidence about audiences, stakeholders, narratives and communication behaviour. Teams that rely only on assumptions or anecdotal feedback risk designing messages and channels that do not address the real information needs, concerns or motivations of the people they seek to engage.
This course develops practical research capability for PR and communication professionals. It covers research questions, secondary research, qualitative inquiry, surveys, audience segmentation, message testing, social listening as an evidence source, basic analysis, insight generation and research reporting.
Participants will design and pilot a small communication research study, then translate findings into actionable audience insight. They will leave with a research brief, data-collection instrument, segmentation framework, insight report and recommendations that can directly improve campaigns, stakeholder engagement or service communication.
Target Participants
Public relations officers, communication specialists, campaign planners, corporate affairs teams, public information officers, digital communication staff, stakeholder engagement professionals, programme communication personnel and practitioners responsible for audience or stakeholder research.
