About the Course
Organizations seeking policy, social or behavioural change need more than awareness activity. Effective advocacy communication requires clear objectives, evidence, audience insight, credible messengers, coalition choices and a disciplined understanding of how communication contributes to influence without overstating impact.
This course focuses on the communication dimension of advocacy and public campaigning. Participants examine problem framing, advocacy audiences, influence pathways, narrative development, mobilization, partnership communication, public engagement, ethical considerations and campaign measurement.
Practical work culminates in an advocacy communication plan for a selected policy or social issue. Participants produce an influence map, message frame, messenger strategy, campaign calendar, mobilization tools and indicators that can be applied by NGOs, associations, development programmes and public-interest initiatives.
Target Participants
Advocacy officers, NGO communication professionals, policy campaigners, programme managers, civil society leaders, public affairs practitioners, development communication staff, associations, coalitions and professionals responsible for public-interest campaigns.
