About the Course
Pension funds are long-term investors whose portfolios may be exposed to environmental, social and governance factors that affect asset values, business resilience and long-term returns. At the same time, trustees must ensure that responsible investment practices remain consistent with fiduciary obligations, investment objectives, applicable regulation and the interests of scheme members. Effective ESG integration therefore requires disciplined investment analysis rather than symbolic policies or untested assumptions.
This course helps pension institutions incorporate ESG considerations into investment governance, manager oversight and portfolio decision-making. It covers ESG materiality, climate-related financial risk, investment policy, stewardship, manager due diligence, sustainable investment products, impact investing, data limitations and reporting. Participants learn how to distinguish financial ESG integration from values-based exclusions and how to establish a credible, measurable responsible investment approach.
The programme maintains a fiduciary investment perspective by focusing on how financially material environmental, social and governance factors can be incorporated into investment analysis, manager selection and ownership practices. Participants will also consider stewardship, climate-related risks, sustainability disclosures and the challenge of evaluating ESG claims so that responsible investment decisions remain evidence-based and aligned with the fund’s mandate.
Target Participants
Pension trustees, investment committee members, fund managers, ESG professionals, investment officers, asset managers, risk teams, regulators, sustainability professionals and consultants serving pension funds.
